If you’re a fan of social networks like MySpace and Twitter, you may consider visiting not only the pages of your friends, but the pages of interesting persons and authors as well. For example, if you’re interested in the books written by anne a lay apostle you can visit her MySpace page at myspace.com/annealayapostle. It’s a great way to learn more about her.

MySpace and Facebook are discussing the possibility of sharing content. The 2 social media sites differ somewhat in how they use content at this point. MySpace users typically respond to content that has value to other users on the site, whereas Facebook users congregate more based on friendship networks. Facebook intends for users to be able to share MySpace content with its Connect feature, which allows users to discuss and share content seen on a partner website.
Recently, MySpace added a new music service in the US and Australia, which allows users to add audio tracks to profiles and can be purchased for Apple’s iTunes store. Should be interesting to see how the talks evolve into a new agreement between these two large social networking sites.
Although Twitter has grown in leaps and bounds, many still doubt its usefulness. Twitter’s management is currently negotiating with Google and Microsoft regarding data-mining deals. Such a deal could be to allow retrieving practical and current news from the millions of tweets throughout the world.
Microsoft and Google are expected to license a complete feed from Twitter that would be search by these 2 companies. Twitter has 54 million users and the compensation for providing such a feed should be highly lucrative. Twitter seems to be seeking the creation of an open platform that numerous websites could integrate into, including search engines, marketers, content publishers and developers. Should be interesting to see how this type of feed works out as there are many not so useful tweets that probably shouldn’t be indexed.
An Aussie web marketing firm is selling fans and friends to Facebook subscribers. The same firm has offered such a service to Twitter subscribers. The company name is uSocial and it is focused on social networking websites due to their vast marketing potential. These sites offer user targetting, which is what any marketer loves for promoting a given product or service. The prices range from about $180 to $1200 from getting 1,000 to 10,000 friends, respectively.
Some websites claim that Twitter is attempting to close uSocial down, since it believes the company is spamming members, and the same has been rumoured for Digg.com claiming uSocial is trying to sells votes for certain news stories to artificially inflate their popularity.
