Although Twitter has grown in leaps and bounds, many still doubt its usefulness. Twitter’s management is currently negotiating with Google and Microsoft regarding data-mining deals. Such a deal could be to allow retrieving practical and current news from the millions of tweets throughout the world.
Microsoft and Google are expected to license a complete feed from Twitter that would be search by these 2 companies. Twitter has 54 million users and the compensation for providing such a feed should be highly lucrative. Twitter seems to be seeking the creation of an open platform that numerous websites could integrate into, including search engines, marketers, content publishers and developers. Should be interesting to see how this type of feed works out as there are many not so useful tweets that probably shouldn’t be indexed.
